Overgeared (2020) Review

When VR gets too real

It is a good Manhua about a VR game. It has good cool characters and great battles. It contains the classic RPG game classes and lore. There is a lot of character development. It is quite funny with lots of silly moments. The art is beautiful with lots of magic and action.

Overgeared (2020)

It has great battles, art and good character development.

Pros Cons
➕ Funny ➖ Romance
➕ Art ➖ Lore
➕ Development
➕ Battles

The story happens in a world where VR has come a long way. It allows people to immerse themselves in a video game. They can spend days on a game during their sleep. The games are immersive and feel real. There are quite a bit of real-life moments as well. The game is a classic RPG where players have classes and battle monsters and other players for EXP to level up.

An average gamer gets the best hidden legendary class on the best VR game. The story is about how the main character changes from an average gamer to the most OP player in the game. The is quite a bit of character development. The player grows not only in the game but also in real life.

Main Character

Young Woo Shin, Username: Grid. In the words best virtual reality game, bad luck always revolves around him. But he stumbled across a job during a quest, the strongest legendary job out of over 2 billion players! He has bad luck. He is clumsy. He is a good person with very bad habits. He grows a lot when he finds friends that help him in the game.

Final thoughts

The character development and battles make this a very good Manhua. The romance happens between the player and an NPC in the game and feels a bit artificial. The real people romance is a bit lacking but may still come (not there yet by the time of writing).
